Essential Water Infrastructure Repair to Temporarily Close Quay West Toilets

Illustration

Minehead Town Council wishes to inform residents and visitors about upcoming essential water infrastructure repairs at the Quay West Car Park Toilet Block.
Contrary to any speculation, these urgent works are completely unrelated to the refurbishment project completed in summer 2023. The repairs have been necessitated by an underground water inlet pipe leak identified by Wessex Water, which requires immediate professional intervention to prevent potential damage to the car park ground and unnecessary additional expense to taxpayers.
The toilet block will be temporarily closed from Monday, 31st March 2025, and is scheduled to reopen on Thursday, 3rd April 2025. During this short period, the facilities will undergo specialist repair work to address the water infrastructure issue.
Wessex Water has served a 14-day notice requiring these repairs, and the Town Council has carefully selected a contractor to ensure the work is completed efficiently and to the highest standard. Prompt action will help mitigate the risk of more extensive and costly repairs that could arise from continued water leakage into the car park's ground infrastructure.
Residents and visitors are advised to plan accordingly. For more information on alternative facilities during the closure. The Town Council apologises for any inconvenience and appreciates the community's understanding of these necessary maintenance works.
