The refurbishment work at Quay West Toilets is now complete and the newly refurbished toilets officially opened on Wednesday 2nd August 2023.
The refurbishment work involved extensive repair work and a complete redesign of the internal layout. The roofing felt has been entirely replaced and leaking skylights removed. Internally the refurbishment has incorporated the renewal of all wall, floor and ceiling coverings within the public toilets as well as enlargement of the cubicles, new vanity units, taps, baby change units and washroom accessories have been installed. A change in colour scheme with updated LED sensor lighting has been incorporated to lift the light levels within the cubicles. The refurbishment also provides an accessible toilet in both male and female facilities which comply with The Equalities Act. Updated features include sensor taps and toilet flushes designed to limit user contact. Sensor timed flow delivers a limited amount of water, reducing waste.
The extensive refurbishment was expected to take 10-12 weeks, The Council is pleased to report this time scale has been met by our appointed contractor Ware Construction.
Minehead Town Council hopes residents and visitors will benefit from these new facilities in this much-loved part of the town.
