Minehead Town Council Announces Completion of Essential Toilet Block Repairs
Minehead Town Council is pleased to announce that the essential repair works to the ladies' toilet block at Summerland Road Car Park have now been completed, and the facilities are fully open to the public as of today (Tuesday 25th February 2025) Following damage sustained from a vehicle collision in October 2024, the necessary reconstruction work commenced on Monday, February 3rd, and has been successfully completed on schedule by the end of February. The repairs included a full reconstruction of the damaged wall, improving the building’s durability and weatherproofing, with a modern rendered finish enhancing the facility’s overall appearance.
The project also incorporated additional maintenance work, including repairs to door frames and replacement of damaged doors, ensuring maximum efficiency during the closure period. Throughout the process, Minehead Town Council has worked diligently to minimise disruption to this vital public facility.
These essential works were fully funded by insurance, meaning there was no direct cost to local taxpayers. The reconstruction was carried out by a trusted local contractor, ensuring high-quality work and long-term resilience of the facilities.
Minehead Town Council sincerely thanks residents and visitors for their patience and understanding during the repair period. We appreciate the community’s cooperation while these vital improvements were completed.
The ladies' toilets and Changing Places facilities are now open as usual, alongside the men’s toilets, which remained accessible where possible during the works.
